The End
So, yesterday I spent far too long messing about with my server. I think I tried one thing too many and ended up breaking everything! That’s the way it goes sometimes. Anyway, I had to do a full restore (I back up once a year), which meant I lost the last few months of posts. Updraft had been making monthly backups but for some reason stopped!
This got me thinking. Recently, I stopped uploading videos to YouTube on a regular basis. I was so happy with my work on OpenStax Calculus 1 and received lots of positive feedback on it (see below). But despite all those videos and hours of effort, I have never reached 4,000 watch hours per year — a goal I’ve had for the past few years.
Now, with AI (or rather, LLMs), it’s possible to get solutions instantly. Soon, I imagine you’ll even be able to get explainer videos tailored to your problem without typing anything. I once saw one of my students take a picture of a question I’d written on the board and get the answer instantly. The writing is on the wall.
Because of this, my recent project of working through the Abstract Algebra book (see my last post) is now permanently paused — as is adding new posts to this site. The age of content creation in education is over. My Teachers Pay Teachers shop earns between €0 and €1 a month, so unless I have something major to say, this will likely be my last post on this site. Although if you have some special question or problem you want me to solve on my site, let me know!!!
I’ll close with some positive comments from my YouTube channel — a reminder of why I created so many videos and posts in the first place. 🙂
